Ama Yangri Trek
Ama Yangri Trek is a short but rewarding trekking route in Nepal’s Helambu region, which lies northeast of Kathmandu. It leads to the summit of Ama Yangri (3,771 m), a sacred peak considered the “protector deity” of the local Hyolmo people.
The trek usually starts from villages like Tarkeghyang or Sermathang in Sindhupalchok District, and passes through beautiful rhododendron forests, Buddhist monasteries, and traditional Hyolmo settlements. It is known for its peaceful trails, rich cultural experience, and panoramic Himalayan views, including Langtang ranges and sometimes even Everest on clear days.
It’s a relatively short trek (often 2– 4 days from Kathmandu), making it popular for beginners or those wanting a quick high-altitude experience without going on a long expedition.
